Is this Ziwei chart generator free?
Yes. You can generate a complete Ziwei (Purple Star Astrology) natal chart for free, including the Twelve Palaces, main stars, auxiliary stars, and Four Transformations.
Free Ziwei Chart Generator for Purple Star Astrology
ChiBuddy's Ziwei chart generator creates a Purple Star Astrology natal chart from your birth date, birth time, gender, and birthplace. The result shows the Life Palace, Body Palace, Twelve Palaces, major stars, auxiliary stars, and Four Transformations used in Ziwei Dou Shu readings.
What This Ziwei Calculator Shows
Your chart includes the following structures, with supporting Bazi data for comparison. Interpretation still requires reading palace relationships and star combinations together.
- Life Palace (Ming Gong)
- The reference palace for an overall natal reading, interpreted through its stars and relationships with the other palaces.
- Body Palace (Shen Gong)
- An additional reference position marked within one of the Twelve Palaces and read alongside the Life Palace. It is not a thirteenth palace.
- Twelve Palaces
- Twelve chart sectors that organize life topics such as relationships, career, wealth, family, and health.
- Fourteen Main Stars
- The primary star group, including Zi Wei, Tian Ji, Tai Yang, and Tai Yin, distributed across the palaces. A palace can have no main star.
- Four Transformations
- Hua Lu, Hua Quan, Hua Ke, and Hua Ji are transformation markers attached to particular stars. Natal, decade, and annual markers belong to different time layers.
- 10-Year Life Cycles and Annual Cycles
- Ten-year age periods and individual-year chart layers read alongside the natal chart. They provide timing context for interpretation, rather than fixed predictions.
Why Birth Time and Birthplace Matter
Ziwei Dou Shu depends on precise birth information because palace placement and timing cycles can change when the hour is wrong. Birthplace helps preserve the context of the birth record, including local timezone and daylight saving rules, especially when chart data is later compared with Bazi or used for AI-assisted interpretation.
See the Ziwei calculation methodology for the published calculation scope and how birth-time context is handled.
From Chart Generation to Interpretation
A chart generator can produce the natal structure, but a useful Ziwei reading needs synthesis: Life Palace and Body Palace, Three Harmonies and Four Squares, Four Transformations, decade limits, annual charts, and the real question you are trying to answer. After generating the chart, you can continue into ChiBuddy's AI reading flow for a structured interpretation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What birth information do I need?
You need your birth date, birth time, gender, and birthplace. Birth time and birthplace help handle local timezone rules, daylight saving time, and the placement of the Life Palace, Body Palace, major periods, and annual cycles.
Do I need to adjust for daylight saving time manually?
Enter the birth time as recorded locally at the birthplace. When the birthplace and local time rules for that date can be determined, the calculator applies the corresponding correction. If it cannot, the chart uses the entered local time.
What does the Ziwei chart include?
The chart includes the Life Palace, Body Palace, Twelve Palaces, main stars, auxiliary stars, Four Transformations, decade periods, annual cycles, and supporting Bazi information for comparison.
Can this replace a full Ziwei reading?
The generator creates the chart structure. A full reading still requires interpretation of palace relationships, star combinations, Four Transformations, decade periods, annual cycles, and the question you want to answer.
What if I do not know my birth time?
Enter a specific birth time to generate this chart; the calculator does not estimate or infer a time. If you only know an approximate period, treat the result as a reference under that time assumption, since a different two-hour period can change the Life Palace and Body Palace.
