BaZi Concepts
What Is Rob Wealth (Jie Cai) in BaZi?
Also called: Jie Cai
Plain Explanation
Rob Wealth is the Ten God relationship in which another Heavenly Stem shares the Day Master’s element but has the opposite yin-yang polarity.
The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of the Day Pillar. The Ten Gods use it as their reference point.
Example
Jia (甲) is Yang Wood, and Yi (乙) is Yin Wood. Both belong to Wood, but their yin-yang polarities are opposite.
With Jia (甲) as the Day Master, Yi (乙) is called Rob Wealth.
What It Is Used For
Rob Wealth identifies influences in the chart that share the Day Master’s element. When assessing Day Master strength, examine how much support it provides and how it works with other Stems and Branches.
Favorable and Unfavorable Associations
Favorable means supporting the chart’s needs; unfavorable means hindering them. These are traditional associations to interpret in the context of the whole chart.
- When favorable
- Common associations include assertiveness, decisive action, and bringing people together to move things forward.
- When unfavorable
- Common associations include impulsive rivalry and competition for resources, with loyalty or competitiveness making it easier to lose sight of limits.
Common Misunderstandings
How Does Rob Wealth Differ from the Companion?
Both share the Day Master’s element. Opposite yin-yang polarities give Rob Wealth; the same polarity gives Companion. For a Jia (甲) Wood Day Master, Yi (乙) is Rob Wealth, while another Jia is Companion.
Rob Wealth Does Not Mean an Inevitable Financial Loss
The name first identifies a relationship between Heavenly Stems. Its effect in a particular chart depends on strength and the other Stems and Branches; the name alone cannot determine a financial outcome.
