BaZi Calculator Validation Cases
These five reviewed cases check ChiBuddy’s calculator at solar-term boundaries and when birthplace correction moves an early-morning birth time into the previous day.
These cases compare current results with documented expected pillars. They validate these named cases only; they do not establish accuracy for every birth input or every BaZi convention.
Adopted conventions and scope
The four solar-term cases use Shanghai civil time (UTC+8) without true-solar-time correction. The Urumqi case records 01:00 in Beijing time (UTC+8) and applies birthplace correction before choosing the calculation date and traditional birth period. ChiBuddy treats Li Chun as the year and first solar-month boundary, and a following Jie term as the month boundary.

Public background sources
The term cases use public solar-term information and calendar day-pillar references. The cross-day case uses the Hong Kong Observatory’s June 2024 calendar and stem/hour tables to check the pillars for the corrected date and birth period. These references support the listed cases, not every calculator rule.
